The Jolly Roger is the oldest Italian restaurant on the Outer Banks, a cozy and unique landmark standing out on NC 12 in Kill Devil Hills with its welcoming army of pirate statues outside, backed by lively tunes, cool brews, and hearty signature dishes inside this one of a kind local icon.
As they promise on their website, the staff of the Jolly Roger offers no “plastic people”, as everyone is down to earth, relaxed, and kindly efficient at getting you in fast, seated and served without ever much of a wait, and happily stuffed with a big smile afterward.
Owner Carol Ann prides herself in presenting an unpretentious atmosphere filled with sincere interest and a promise of friendship.
The menu at the Jolly Roger offers a wide variety of fresh caught local seafood, as well as steaks, prime rib, traditional home cooked favorites, and what many consider the best breakfast on the beach.
In addition to the irresistable food, the Jolly Roger also features a spacious bar that has regular drink specials and live karaoke and dancing every night with DJ Hambone, starting at 8pm.
Thursdays and Fridays usually feature live music outside on the deck overlooking the ocean, or inside if it’s too chilly.
At the gift shop, you can take home the Jolly Roger’s own famous Bloody Mary mix, as well as numerous decorations, pirate costumes, and various Outer Banks-themed collectibles sure to entice visitors and locals alike.
Throughout the Jolly Roger, the building itself is a museum of eye-catching wonder, from the celebrity murals on the outside of that welcome you on your way in, to thousands of shiny ornaments that hang from the ceiling over the dining room.
One of the original Outer Banks landmarks and a historic icon of Dare County, the Jolly Roger is an oasis of homespun charm and laid back fun for the entire family.
